TRAVEL MEDIA ENJOYS ANNUAL CONVENTION

By Roy Heale

Last week in Richmond, B.C. the Travel Media Association of Canada held its annual convention from February 3rd to 6th at the River Rock Casino Resort. Almost 100 travel writers, photographers and on-air journalists were in attendance along with numerous travel industry representatives. The industry marketplace, seminars, speeches and receptions were an enormous success and well attended by all convention delegates. There were many off-site field trips to the local scene in Richmond and Vancouver. Also, the Friday luncheon was sponsored by Cardiff, Wales Tourism as the host city for the 2010 convention and the first time that this annual gathering will be held outside of Canada. Attendees at the luncheon were treated to a sampling of what Cardiff will offer the 2010 delegates and entertainment by the Vancouver Welsh Men's Chorus. Friday evening included the 2008 TMAC Awards ceremony and the final event of the convention was the Go For The Gold Gala Dinner at the Aberdeen Centre in Richmond B.C. Everyone agreed it was a very informative convention and the ever important networking was unequalled. Looking forward to Cardiff in 2010.
